Greenhouse Gas Portable Standards

Services

There are often significant time delays when getting greenhouse gas working reference gases (often over 6 months).

To help the UK GHG measurement community, we keep a rolling stock of working reference gases that can be sourced through AMOF.

The Greenhouse Gas Portable Reference Service consists of a stock of 4 – 5 sets of working reference gases consisting of 5 to 4 cylinders in each set. Each set covers atmospheric concentrations for carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, and methane.

The reference gases are made at the Cylinder Filling Facility (CFF) at the University of East Anglia. Amount fractions are assigned using certified calibration gases purchased from NOAA and are traceable to World Meteorological Organization (WMO) calibration scales.

IMPORTANT: These gas-working references are NOT certified! It is of paramount importance that this is understood before use. If it is certified gas standards that you require, please get in touch and we can advise accordingly.

The user has the option to rent or purchase a set of gases for use in projects. The former saves the community from repeatedly buying expensive working reference gases.

Any income from renting/buying is reinvested in maintaining the gases and replacing a set if one is sold.
