<p><strong>Location</strong>: Oxford Road, University of Manchester <br /><strong>Salary</strong>: £32,816 to £40,322 or £41,526 to £51,034 per annum, depending on experience <br /><strong>Contract length</strong>: Fixed-term for up to 3 years <br /><strong>Contract type</strong>: Full time <br /><strong>Closing date</strong>: Tuesday 3rd November 2020 We invite applications for an Instrument Scientist in the field of Cloud Microphysics. The position is funded by the <a href="http://www.ncas.ac.uk">National Centre for Atmospheric Science</a> (NCAS). The University of Manchester hosts several NCAS staff within the Centre for Atmospheric Science, which is part of the Department of Earth and Environmental Science. The position is available at Grade 6 or Grade 7, depending on experience, as described in the detailed job descriptions.</p>
<h3>Role requirements</h3>
<p>The initial appointment is for 3 years, but extensions are likely as part of the long term partnership between NCAS and the University. The position has two main roles:</p>

<li>Delivery of measurement facilities and data to the UK atmospheric science community, as part of the Atmospheric Measurement and Observation Facility (AMOF). A major component of this consists of fieldwork, including operating from research aircraft.</li>
<li>Delivery of NCAS science in the area of cloud microphysics, including development of new calibration methods, instrument development, and publication of research findings in peer reviewed journals.</li>
